Abstract

Faculty induction and mentoring programme in the area of curriculum development is very important in the life and career of every new/old academic staff who takes up a position at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). NUST is moving towards the fulfilment of its four values, namely: Excellence, Innovation, Collaboration and Accountability. These values are measured by the outside world (industry, stakeholders and international partners) based on the quality and the type of programmes NUST offers to the students. At NUST it is a requirement that as an academic you need to have the skills and knowledge of developing curriculum in your area of specialisation that meet both NUST Curriculum Framework and the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). Considering the need for the institution to develop qualifications that are of international standards coupled with the need to meet the local industry, professional body and accrediting agencies like the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) and the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), it is imperative to empower our academics on the requirements needed in each qualification. The presentation will enlighten academics on all process, credits and requirements of the NQF.
